Prep STEM

PREP STEM - Term 1, 2025: Mrs Kellie Fillis

In Term 1, the Foundation students will use fairy tales to explore mini STEM projects where they will use everyday items to construct towers, troll bridges, little pig houses, gingerbread men traps etc. They will use a hands-on approach to pose questions, make predictions, solve problems, think critically, make decisions, and try and try again when something doesn’t go to plan. They will work in a range of partnerships and groups to complete these tasks, showing collaboration, compromise, and kindness skills.

Junior STEM - Term 1, 2025: Mrs Fillis

In Term 1, the Junior students will explore how everyday materials can be physically changed or combined with other materials in a variety of ways for particular purposes. They will be predicting and comparing how the shapes of objects made from different materials can be physically changed through different actions, for example, bending, stretching and twisting. Students will learn to identify materials that can be changed and remade or recycled into new products, for example, paper and plastic. The Juniors will also investigate how around the world, different materials are used to make clothing or build structures/buildings.
