Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school, if there are available places.

The Department of Education (DE) has a statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline.
The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Foundation (Prep) at a Victorian government primary school, including Kingsley Park Primary School.
You can find information and resources about the enrolment timeline and procedures at: Enrolling in Foundation (Prep).
The new timeline will apply for children starting Foundation (Prep) in 2025. All government primary schools will follow the new timeline in 2024 to support Foundation (Prep) enrolments for the 2025 school year.
The timeline does not apply to government specialist schools. For information about how to apply to enrol your child in a government specialist school, you should read enrolling in a school. The timeline does not apply to non-government schools (Catholic or Independent schools). If you wish for your child to attend a non-government school, please contact individual non-government schools for their enrolment processes.
If you are seeking to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) for the 2024 school year, you should read about enrolling in a school and contact a primary school directly.
You can find information and resources about the new timeline, including factsheets, at: Enrolling in Foundation (Prep). You can also download the ‘Foundation (Prep) Enrolment Information Pack for Parents/Carers for the 2025 school year’ from the Starting School webpage (available from 15th April 2024).
You will be able to apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) 2025 at Kingsley Park from 15th April 2024.
What you need to do:
Enrolment applications submitted after Friday 26th July 2024 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Placement Policy.

Pre-School to School Transition
Once your child is enrolled at our school you will be automatically linked to information about the Transition Program. Ongoing information about the school is available via our newsletter which is available through the online newsletter link on our website.
Our Transition Program is highly successful and commences in the October before your child is due to begin school. On scheduled days, the children come to school to participate in a range of activities which enable them to begin to build relationships with our Foundation teachers, specialist teachers and their future classmates.
During fourth term once the children are settled, we run Parent Information Sessions that include information about how our classrooms operate, transitioning to school, assisting with Literacy, Numeracy and Student Wellbeing and how to best prepare your child for school. The purpose of these sessions is to link our parents with other future Foundation parents and inform the community about how we approach learning at Kingsley Park.
Our Buddy System links each Foundation students with a Year 5 or 6 student who becomes their ‘special friend’ in the playground to assist with transitioning into school. They also complete some learning activities together and enjoy some lunch eating times and story times together. It is a lovely Program providing a gradual transition to the school environment. A hallmark of its success is the happy and excited faces of the children on their first day of school.
